  • 1. Is there a minimum proficiency level required to sign up for an English learning program?

    No; you can benefit from our programs whatever your current English proficiency level. Whether you are a beginner or are already familiar with English, signing up with EnglishHelper will develop your language skills and help you meet your goals.

  • 2. Why do I need to take a placement test before I can start my Learn English program?

    Taking the test will help us measure your English proficiency, enabling us to offer you the program best suited for you.

  • 3. What does my English level mean? How many levels are there?

    We offer programs at 6 different levels, with Level 1 aimed at beginners. Our English learning programs are aligned to the levels defined by the Common European Framework for Languages (CEFR).

  • 4. What do I need to pay to learn English with EnglishHelper?

    Our Learn English program has restricted access. With this program, you can improve your English reading, speaking, and listening skills. If you want to improve your English writing skills, you can sign up for our writing improvement software, WritingAssistant. Our Writing improvement software is available in both free and paid versions.

  • 5. How much time should I spend on my English program every day?

    We recommend you spend at least 60 minutes per lesson and complete at least 3 lessons over 3-4 hours each week. Developing fluency in English is all about practise! The more time you spend learning and practising, the faster you will meet your English language learning goals.

  • 1. What is WritingAssistant?

    WritingAssistant is a software that checks through your writing and points out errors in spelling, capitalization, punctuation, grammar, sentence construction, and more. In many cases, it automatically corrects what you have written, returning a more readable and effective text. Using WritingAssistant regularly helps our learners improve their writing skills through practise and feedback. To find out more, check the Write Better page.

  • 2. How does WritingAssistant work?

    A state-of-the-art software engine reads through your text, breaking it down into understandable chunks of paragraphs, sentences, words, and punctuation marks. Then it tags each word for part-of-speech, determines the clause structure of the sentences, and looks up all the words in the built-in dictionaries. The final step is searching the sentences for errors and oddities, simultaneously determining if it can offer a correction or just flag the error. All in a few seconds!

  • 3. Who should use WritingAssistant?

    Everyone! WritingAssistant was designed for use by English-language learners and second-language English speakers of all proficiencies, but it can be used by native speakers as well for a more in-depth alternative to the spelling and grammar checks in word processors such as Microsoft Word.

  • 4. How does WritingAssistant allow me to “learn at our own pace and in our own context”?

    WritingAssistant allows you to learn outside the classroom, whenever you have the time. The Analyzer is context-sensitive, making suggestions based on your preferences. You may submit text on whichever topic and in whichever format is most relevant to you.

  • 5. Are other languages supported?

    Currently, the Analyzer checks text for spelling and grammar only in English.

Registration and Account

  • 1. How much does WritingAssistant cost to use?

  • 2. I did not receive my login credentials. How do I know if I have been registered?

    You should receive a welcome e-mail from us almost immediately after registering. If you cannot find this e-mail, please check your junk or spam folders. To prevent our e-mail from being sorted into junk in future, please add to your contacts or "safe senders" list. If you cannot find the e-mail, write to us at

  • 3. For how long is my account valid?

    Your EnglishHelper account is valid forever and includes access to our English learning programs and WritingAssistant Basic. If you have a Plus or Pro plan to WritingAssistant, your plan will continue until you cancel it.

  • 4. How is confidentiality of my documents ensured?

    Everything you enter on WritingAssistant, from your text submissions to quiz scores, is treated as confidential material. It is not shared with any third party. You may read our Privacy Policy to obtain more information in this regard.

  • 5. How do I change or cancel my plan?

    After you log in to your dashboard, click on Dashboard in the top right, then click My Plans. Below Write Better, you will see buttons for changing your subscription plan.


  • 1. My text seems to be generating an error message after I click Check. What should I do?

    WritingAssistant works best when using Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer. Check that you are using a supported browser. Also, if you are copy/pasting text from another application that uses special characters (characters other than English letters, numbers, and basic punctuation), the engine may not recognize them. Try typing in your text, or send us your original text using the contact us form.

  • 2. WritingAssistant marked an error in a sentence that I do not think is incorrect, or it did not mark an incorrect sentence.

    We are continually working to improve the WritingAssistant engine and its abilities to detect errors and suggest improvements. If you feel that there has been an error in the evaluations, please send your sample text to We are always grateful for feedback and suggestions!

  • 3. There was a problem processing my transaction, but the transaction still shows up on my bank account. Will I be charged?
